All photographs of team members were taken on location at the University of South Carolina’s award-winning Thomas Cooper Library, which was designed in the late 1950s by renowned modernist architect Edward Durrell Stone in partnership with Lyles, Bissett, Carlisle & Wolff, the South’s most prominent architectural firm at that time. William A. Carlisle, one of Carlisle Associates’ founding principals, was a senior partner at LBC&W.

When the Library opened in 1959, it was the first separate undergraduate library in the South and only the third in the nation. In 1963, it won the coveted First Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects in cooperation with the American Library Association and The National Book Committee.

We thank the University Libraries staff and administration for their generous accommodation.
